Agile Robots, the Munich-founded AI robotics company that supplies automation solutions to Foxconn and Tata Electronics for iPhone production in India, has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based XNG Automation to expand its local production capacity. The acquisition was confirmed by Agile India managing director Saravanan Solaiappan, who said XNG Automation matches the company’s requirement for immediately scaling up local manufacturing. Financial terms were not disclosed.
XNG Automation has approximately 200 employees and specializes in factory and intralogistics automation, with deep expertise in system integration and machine vision across consumer electronics, automotive, and electric vehicles. Its client list includes Bosch and Toyota.
Why the Acquisition Makes Strategic Sense
Agile Robots’ India business is built around serving two of the country’s most significant electronics manufacturing customers – Foxconn and Tata Electronics, both central to Apple’s iPhone production strategy in India. That relationship creates a demand for local integration capability and rapid deployment support that cannot be efficiently served from a foreign headquarters.
XNG Automation provides what Agile Robots lacks in India: a large local team with established system integration expertise and existing relationships with major Indian manufacturers. By combining Agile Robots’ proprietary robotic hardware and AI software with XNG’s integration knowledge, the combined entity can serve Indian manufacturing customers more comprehensively than either company could independently.
