iRobot has launched the Roomba Electro Plus alongside five redesigned Roomba robot vacuums, marking the company’s first genuine product category expansion in years and its first major launch since emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring under new owner Shenzhen Picea Robotics. The launch follows a turbulent period that included a failed Amazon acquisition attempt and the corporate restructuring that converted iRobot from a publicly traded company to a privately held subsidiary of the Shenzhen-based parent.
The Electro Plus is the most strategically significant of the new products: it is not a robot vacuum. At $399.99, it is a cordless, self-propelled hard-floor cleaner that combines vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, self-cleaning, and self-drying in one machine. Its electrolyzed water technology converts ordinary tap water into a solution that kills 99.99% of household bacteria, viruses, and fungi without chemicals – positioning the device for households with children and pets where bleach or steam alternatives may be less desirable.
The Redesigned Roomba Lineup
The five new Roomba models span a range from $599.99 to $999.99, with a tiered structure covering vacuum-only and combo vacuum-and-mop configurations at different power and runtime levels.
At the top, the Roomba Max 775 Combo at $999.99 combines 4x power-lifting suction with a heated 167-degree Fahrenheit mop wash cycle and an AutoWash Dock. Navigation uses ClearView Pro LiDAR mapping and PrecisionVision AI obstacle recognition, which together identify pet waste and activate a dedicated carpet protection cover before the robot crosses rugs.
The Roomba Max 715 Vacuum at $699.99 offers the same suction and navigation with an AutoEmpty Dock rather than a washing station. The Roomba Plus 575 Combo at $799.99 uses a 46% smaller chassis capable of climbing 35mm thresholds, with SmartScrub technology for a deeper scrubbing pass. The Roomba Plus 515 Combo at $699.99 prioritizes runtime, delivering up to 295 minutes of battery life across up to 2,000 square feet per charge. The Roomba Plus 415 Combo at $599.99 brings DualClean spinning mop pads from pricier models to the entry point of the lineup.
Across most models, AutoWash or AutoEmpty docks handle mop pad washing, heated drying, and debris emptying automatically, extending hands-free maintenance intervals to as long as three months.
The Corporate Context
iRobot’s acquisition by Amazon was blocked by European regulators in 2024. The company subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy before being acquired by Shenzhen Picea Robotics. The new ownership structure and the Electro Plus launch together represent iRobot’s attempt to reestablish commercial relevance in a home cleaning robotics market that has become significantly more competitive – particularly from Chinese manufacturers including Roborock, Ecovacs, and Dreame – during the period when iRobot’s corporate instability limited its product development.
The Roomba Electro Plus, Max 775 Combo, Plus 515 Combo, and Plus 415 Combo are available immediately. The Max 715 Vacuum and Plus 575 Combo are open for pre-order.
