EngineAI has opened a smart manufacturing facility in Shenzhen’s Honghualing district, beginning mass production of its T800 humanoid robot. The 129,000 square-foot plant is designed to produce one humanoid robot every 15 minutes, integrating incoming quality checks, component testing, assembly, pre-shipment testing, logistics, and after-sales service into a single manufacturing workflow. The first batch of T800 units has already come off the assembly line.
The launch positions EngineAI among a small group of Chinese humanoid manufacturers with operational mass-production facilities, as the country accelerates investment across the sector.
Quality Control at Scale
Each robot must pass 79 quality checks and 46 simulation tests before shipping. The testing protocol covers stability, durability, and performance consistency – a structured quality assurance process that addresses one of the persistent challenges of scaling humanoid manufacturing: maintaining the precision tolerances required for bipedal locomotion and manipulation hardware across high-volume output.
The facility targets up to 10,000 units of initial production capacity. The company said the Shenzhen plant is designed to handle the volume demands expected as humanoid robots expand into industrial and inspection applications where companies need reliable, repeatable performance at scale.
Product Portfolio and Company Background
EngineAI was founded in October 2023 and has developed a range of platforms since. Its current lineup includes the T800 heavy-duty humanoid, the PM01 humanoid, the lightweight SA02 companion robot, and the JS01 quadruped. The T800, which debuted at CES 2026 at a starting price of $25,000 with first shipments targeting mid-2026, is the primary platform for the Shenzhen production ramp.
The company has been building toward industrial and inspection sector deployment, where demand for robots capable of repetitive, labor-intensive tasks is more immediately addressable than the broader general-purpose applications that define longer-term humanoid ambitions.
Manufacturing Expansion Beyond Shenzhen
EngineAI is simultaneously planning a second manufacturing facility in Zhengzhou, Henan province, designated as the company’s global smart manufacturing headquarters. A separate 10,000-unit production line is being built at the EngineAI Intelligent Manufacturing base in Zhengzhou Yunzhi Science Park. The Zhengzhou facility is intended to work closely with regional suppliers of key components and expand EngineAI’s market service capability as demand grows.
The two-facility strategy – coastal Shenzhen for initial scale and inland Zhengzhou for supply chain coordination and broader regional reach – mirrors the manufacturing geography approach used across China’s EV and battery sectors.
Financial Context
The factory opening follows EngineAI’s Series B financing round, closed in April, which raised $200 million and pushed the company’s valuation above 10 billion yuan, approximately $1.4 billion. The capital is allocated to manufacturing expansion, research, and commercial humanoid deployment – the same three investment categories that define the scaling priorities of most Chinese humanoid manufacturers at this stage of the market.
