Vecna Robotics Raises $31 Million as Demand for U.S.-Built Warehouse AMRs Doubles

Vecna Robotics has raised $31 million led by Unless to scale its U.S.-manufactured autonomous mobile robot fleet, as demand for its CaseFlow case-picking system more than doubled year-over-year and FCC action on foreign-made connected robots increases commercial interest in domestically produced automation platforms.

Vecna Robotics has raised $31 million in a funding round led by Unless, with participation from existing investors Drive Capital, Tiger Global, Highland Capital Partners, and Tectonic Ventures. The Waltham, Massachusetts-based company designs and manufactures its autonomous mobile robots domestically, a positioning that has become commercially significant as FCC action on foreign-made connected robots raises questions about the long-term supportability of imported automation platforms.

Demand for CaseFlow, Vecna’s autonomous case-picking system launched in 2025, more than doubled year-over-year, while adoption of its autonomous forklift and tugger solutions continued to expand. The capital will fund deployment team scaling, go-to-market expansion, and development of new capabilities including pallet stacking, de-stacking, and trailer loading and unloading.

What Vecna’s Fleet Does

Vecna’s AMR portfolio covers case picking, pallet movement, and material transport across warehouse and manufacturing operations. The CPJ Co-bot Pallet Jack, Autonomous Forklift, and Autonomous Tugger are coordinated through the company’s Pivotal orchestration platform, which allocates tasks across robots and human workers and manages workflow routing without requiring fixed infrastructure modifications.

The CaseFlow deployment at GEODIS illustrates the commercial outcome. A Modern Materials Handling System Report found that CaseFlow doubled picking throughput at the facility while improving floor safety and reducing training time for new workers. “We’re picking twice as much as we did on manual pallet jacks,” said Steve Elsbury, Senior Operations Manager at GEODIS. “New pickers working with the robots typically start at a performance level of 200%, compared with the previous setup.”

The training reduction comes from a workflow redesign: new workers learn the robot system rather than first learning to drive a pallet jack, navigate the facility, and operate the warehouse management system independently – reducing the time before they contribute at full productivity.

The U.S. Manufacturing Advantage

The FCC’s addition of foreign-produced advanced robotic devices to its Covered List, alongside the Trump administration’s July import restrictions on new foreign-made robots, has introduced supply chain and compliance uncertainty for operators relying on imported automation platforms. Vecna’s domestic design and manufacturing removes those variables.

CEO Karl Iagnemma framed the customer demand in operational terms: “Customers aren’t looking to automate a single task in isolation. They’re looking for flexible ways to improve the automated flow of work broadly across their operations.”

What the Capital Funds

The new capabilities Vecna is developing – pallet stacking and de-stacking, trailer loading and unloading – extend autonomous pallet movement into storage, staging, and dock workflows that currently require manual forklift operation. Combined with existing CaseFlow and pallet transport capabilities, the additions move Vecna’s platform toward end-to-end dock-to-dock automation, with all workflows coordinated through Pivotal.

The strategic context for the investment is a North American market where domestic manufacturing origin and long-term service capability are increasingly weighted in enterprise procurement decisions alongside raw performance and price.
