Key Notes

  • GXO and Agility plan new Digit deployments at Statesville in North Carolina and Lebanon in Tennessee, beginning in early 2027.
  • The expansion builds on a Georgia operation where the companies say Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes under a commercial service agreement.
  • Agility also disclosed three additional paid manufacturing programs and more than 30 prospective customers, which should not be treated as completed large-scale rollouts.

GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics are expanding their humanoid robot partnership to two more U.S. warehouses, with deployments expected to begin in early 2027. Digit will support e-commerce fulfillment in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee.

The October 26 joint announcement says the sites will initially use Digit 4, followed by a transition to Digit 5 once that model becomes commercially available.

A Customer Expands an Existing Deployment

The agreement builds on GXO’s Flowery Branch, Georgia, operation. The companies say Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes there since their commercial relationship began in 2024.

The arrangement uses a Robots-as-a-Service model and Agility Arc fleet-management software. Digit handles repetitive material movement alongside existing warehouse automation, including placing totes onto conveyors.

A repeat customer expanding into additional facilities is a different commercial signal from a first demonstration. It indicates that the customer sees enough value to plan a broader use of the system, although it does not disclose the economics of each site.

Manufacturing Programs Add to the Pipeline

In a separate business update, Agility disclosed three additional paid manufacturing programs: a global automaker, an automotive technology supplier and a consumer-products manufacturer. The customers were not named.

Agility also cited more than 30 prospective customers. A prospect is not a signed deployment, and a paid program is not necessarily a commitment to a large robot fleet. Keeping those stages distinct makes the scale of the business easier to assess.

RobotsBeat previously covered Agility’s AGCO pilot, another example of a customer testing a defined material-handling use case before wider adoption.

Digit 5 Is the Next Step

The GXO plan allows deployment to start with the current generation rather than waiting for its successor. That makes the upgrade path part of the service relationship, alongside installation and ongoing support.

Digit 5’s planned computing changes, including NVIDIA IGX Thor, have already been announced. The new GXO agreement concerns where robots will work, rather than confirming that the next model is already commercially available.

The next concrete milestone is operation at the two additional warehouses. That will test whether the deployment process and support model developed in Georgia can be repeated under another site’s layout, volume and operating schedule.
